LUCKNOW: Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) has recorded over 31.5 lakh passenger movements in April-September 2023 period as compared to 23.5 lakh passengers in April-September 2022 period.
Exhibiting significant growth, Lucknow Airport witnessed a fruitful first half with over 27.1 lakh domestic passengers and 4.4 lakh international passengers.
CCSIA spokesperson said, “During the first half of the current fiscal, the domestic passengers grew by 40 per cent to 27.1 lakh passengers, as compared to 19.3 lakh in the same period the previous year. Out of the overall passenger movements, 86 per cent were domestic passengers and the remaining 14 per cent were international travelers.”
With an average footfall of around 17,200 passengers in 2023-24, CCSIA is hopeful to be consistent and maintain growth momentum for the year. The airport operated over 23,000 flights in 2023-24 with a growth of 16 per cent over same period last year. The airport had managed over 19,700 flights in 2022-23.
In the first half, CCSIA introduced several additional and new flights. The airport increased frequency to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad and new flights to Mopa (North Goa) and Varanasi. In the international routes, Lucknow Airport connected destinations like Dammam, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Recently, Oman Air re-started operations to Muscat that augmented Lucknow’s international connectivity.
In September 2023, Lucknow Airport played host to approximately 5.13 lakh passengers with a growth of 24 per cent as compared to 4.12 lakh in September 2022. The airport also operated over 3800 flights, which was 8 per cent higher than the flight movements in September 2022.
