One woman is on a mission to empower others through the menopause in a unique way for World Menopause Day on Tuesday, October 18. Influencer Lou Featherstone, AKA Lu in Luland, is on a mission to help women of all ages be confident in themselves.
With a big influence on instagram (over 50k followers) she is embracing middle age with vigour and using her platform to inspire women to come out of their comfort zones and rediscover their lost confidence. Lu wants to help women to be able to own their own bodies and their own choices.
Lu has turned her trusty bus, Suzie, into a freedom bus, and has just toured the US, giving a voice to those that feel they don’t have one, giving them the right to choose, as well as busting myths on midlife and menopause along the way.
Originally from Brighton, UK, Lu emigrated to Portland, Oregon, eight years ago, where she found herself jobless, and unsure on what to do. She started meeting up with like-minded moms who helped her find her identity and her voice.
Lu was a housewife and full-time mum, who had found herself extremely unhappy. Through local groups and her community on Instagram, Lu began to speak out more and find her voice. She was then approached by a sex-toy brand to become their ambassador, she found the men in her life thinking this was a bad idea and the women telling her to do it, so she did.
Lu now wants to spread confidence and positivity with other women that may feel stuck in their lives.
Unfortunately for Lu, as her confidence grew, she found her marriage was slipping through her fingers, and was at a point where it was too late to fix things, so, from this birthed the ‘Self Love Revolution Tour’. The tour hit six major cities across America, with Lu stopping at each city for a self-love workshop that will include drunk yoga, clothes swaps and dancing.
Lu travelled a total of 5,000 miles from Portland, Oregon to New York City, passing through 18 states along the way.
