LSU QB Jayden Daniels Intends to Enter 2024 NFL Draft

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels announced Monday that he plans to enter the 2024 NFL draft.

The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner led the nation in touchdown passes, passing efficiency, passing yards per attempt and rushing yards per attempt while leading LSU to a 9–3 record this season. Daniels shared a video Monday that reflected on his two-year tenure at LSU, which followed three seasons at Arizona State.

“Coming to Louisiana from Arizona State was a whirlwind just because how everything transpired,” Daniels said in the video. “Transferring to LSU gave me a fresh start and a breath of fresh air. Year 1 was with not without bumps and bruises, but we made the best of it. …Year 2, we took it up a notch. While we didn’t accomplish our ultimate goal, we did lay the foundation for the path to success.

“I want to say thank you to all those who made this happen but all great things must come to an end. … I love y’all, and I’m proud to be a California, Bayou boy. Five out.”

Daniels will forgo the ReliaQuest Bowl, in which the Tigers will face Wisconsin (7–5) in Tampa on Jan. 1.

Daniels threw for 3,812 yards with 40 touchdown passes and just four interceptions while rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns during the ’23 campaign. For his LSU career, the 22-year-old registered 6,725 passing yards, 57 touchdown passes and seven interceptions while rushing for 21 scores.

He became LSU’s third Heisman Trophy winner, joining Billy Cannon (1959) and Joe Burrow (2019).
