'Loving and caring' little girl was killed in M6 crash after seaside day out

A 'loving and caring' young girl who was killed in a motorway crash earlier this month was travelling home after a family trip to Blackpool.

Three-year-old Faye Dawson was in her family's Vauxhall Meriva on the M6 with her mum, Beth Dawson, following the day out when they were involved in a crash with a Porsche Boxter. The Porsche is believed to have been travelling the wrong way at the time of the crash, and was being driven by a 79-year-old man who also died in the collision.

Beth and a man also in the Vauxhall were seriously injured in the crash on November 19, which took place on the southbound carriage between junctions 29 and 28. Following the tragedy, Beth's friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help provide support in dealing with what they describe as a 'horrific accident', LancsLive reports.

The page says: "I’m setting up this fund to raise money for Beth Dawson who daughter was tragically taken on Saturday 19/11/2022. She had been on a lovely day trip to Blackpool with her mum and her partner.

"Sadly on their way home there was an horrific accident on the M6 motorway which sadly took the life of Faye who was only three-years-old, her mum Beth has got horrendous injuries and her partner is also poorly.

"As you can imagine the family and friends are devastated by this news so I'm asking if you could please help by donating to help her family, for them to not have to worry about any costs because as you can imagine they’re all going through enough right now. Thank you in advance for your support. Our prayers are with you all."

Faye's family have also paid tribute, issuing a heartfelt statement through Lancashire Police saying: "Our beautiful Faye Grace, words will never express the heartache we are all going through since you were tragically taken from us.

"We can’t see the future without you, it has left a massive hole in our lives. Everyone says how precious their daughter/granddaughter is but you were an exception, you were such a clever little girl who was very funny and had us all laughing all the time.

"You were so loving and caring and above all very loved by everyone who met you. You’re now at rest with your great nanny, great grandad and Uncle Jimmy.

"Words won’t justify how much we are all going to miss you and how much we all love you. Your mummy is being so brave and she will continue to make you proud.

"You were too little to be taken away from us, but we know the angels will look after you and they’re lucky to have you dancing in the sky with them. We are all so heartbroken that you were taken far too young but we are so glad that we got to have you for the time we did. “RIP baby girl, we are all missing you and will carry on forever. All our love."

Lancashire Police are continuing to investigate the incident, with a spokesperson saying: "Investigating officers suspect the Porsche Boxster was travelling in the wrong direction on the carriageway when the collision happened, having entered the motorway at junction 28 via the southbound slip road.

"If anyone who witnessed the collision hasn’t come forward yet, we ask them to do so. Also, if any drivers have dashcam footage from the motorway around the time of the collision, we are appealing for them to contact us."

Sgt Craig Booth, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This collision has left both families grieving in a way most of us will never understand.

"On behalf of Lancashire Police and the investigation team I would like them to know our thoughts are with them all, they are being supported by specially trained officers as a result of this traumatic incident.

“I feel I also need to mention all the emergency services who attended who are also trying to come to terms with what happened.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact 101, quoting log 1102 of November 19, 2022.
