As mango season reaches its peak across India, a food safety raid in Gujarat has raised serious concerns about the quality of mango-based products reaching consumers. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has shared footage from an inspection in Mehsana where officials allegedly uncovered a large stock of rotten mangoes that were being kept for juice production. Authorities seized the fruits before they could be processed and initiated action against those involved.
Raid Uncovers Rotten Stock at Juice Production Unit
The Gujarat Food Safety Department conducted an inspection at a wholesale mango juice manufacturing facility in Mehsana. During the operation, officials reportedly found heaps of spoiled mangoes stored for extracting juice.
The video released by FSSAI shows piles of decaying fruit at the premises. Some of the mangoes appeared badly damaged, while close-up visuals showed visible signs of worms, insects, and fungal growth.
