Opinion-dividing brand Marmite have launched a brand new flavour to their growing line-up of spreads and those who love the original flavour can’t wait to try it. Following the success of a chilli flavoured Marmite earlier this year, the savoury food spread brand have revealed a rather bougie edition of their yeast extract snack.
Sharing the news on social media, Marmite unveiled its new truffle flavoured spread, describing it as 'deliciously decadent’.

On their website, the brand suggested the new flavour is an upmarket option for those who enjoy the finer things in life, writing: “It’s supper, not dinner. They’re not “mum” and “dad”, they’re “mummy” and “daddy”. Tweed is your fabric of choice. There’s a seat with your name on it in the private members’ club. But you crave more. More of the finer things in life.
“You want to taste it, every day, all day. You want something that’ll truly, truly make you say, ‘Good show, old chap, good show.’ Truffle. The brand-new, utterly spiffing, jolly good, absolutely mahrvelus Marmite spread. It’s your forever way to introduce a finer taste into your daily routine. Now it’s not just toast – it’s toast, eaten with your pinkie in the air. Love it. Hate it. Have it.”
The posh spread has, surprisingly, not divided the internet, with an overwhelming majority of foodies saying they can’t wait to try it. One shopper even drove to three different stores to find the product, which launched exclusively in Sainsbury’s stores today (May 2).
One customer said: “Got two jars, it’s lovely”, while another added: “Got mine this morning and it’s decadent.”
“Just driven to three different stores and over the border into Cornwall to get it,” wrote a third, as others simple commented that they ‘need to try it’.
Others have been left disappointed by their local Sainsbury’s where there were ‘none left’ on shelves, suggesting that it’s already been a hit this bank holiday.
Few people have said they’re unwilling to give it a go, but one purist wrote: “Sorry, Marmite is Marmite, don’t mess with it.”
Another shopper will be giving it a miss, though, adding: “Love Marmite, but was very sick from eating truffle oil years ago so that's a no from me.”
The new Marmite Truffle is £4.50 a jar and available in Sainsbury’s stores from May 2.
