Love Island winners Jess Harding and Sammy Root ‘split two months after show’

The winners of the latest series of Love Island, Jess Harding and Sammy Root, have reportedly split just two months after they were crowned winners of the ITV show.

According to Mail Online, the pair – who took home £50,000 by winning the competition – have now split after realising their “relationship changed since leaving the villa”.

A source said the pair have now decided they are “better off as friends”.

They said: “Jess and Sammy have called it quits.

“Things have changed since leaving the villa and Jess has realised they’re better off as friends.”

It is believed that Harding is currently getting over her heartbreak by enjoying a girls’ holiday to Ibiza.

The couple, who are both 22, beat favourites Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki to win Love Island – much to the shock of many fans of the show.

Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde came third, while Zachariah Noble and Molly Marsh placed fourth.

They met when Sammy arrived at the villa as a “bombshell” later entrant and chose to take Jess for a date in a hot tub.

Their relationship faced some bumps and the pair often found themselves coupled with other islanders.

The couple have been seen at various red carpets since their win in the summer, including at the Who Cares Wins Awards and the National Television Awards.

Reps for Harding have been approached by the Standard.
