Love Island USA has been marred with controversy ahead of its season eight premiere, with one contestant reportedly being fired for allegedly using the n-word in resurfaced social media posts.
Just two days after the Love Island USA season eight cast was announced, PEOPLE Magazine reported that 25-year-old Vasana Montgomery had been dropped from the show.
According to the publication, the business owner, who claimed to be the “full package” in her video introduction, was fired from Love Island USA after videos of her allegedly using the n-word went viral following the show’s 2026 cast announcement.
The Hollywood Reporter said it’s understood that the videos of Montgomery “appear to be privately owned and not shared publicly”. As a result, showrunners weren’t aware of the ex-contestant’s actions before she was cast.
It’s not known if Montgomery had already begun filming with Love Island USA before she’d been dropped from the cast.
However, at the time of writing, she is still featured on the show’s Instagram account.
This isn’t the first time contestants have been fired for resurfaced social media posts allegedly involving racial slurs.
In 2025, Yulissa Escobar was kicked off in episode two after a video of her using the n-word went viral. Weeks later, Cierra Ortega was also axed from Love Island USA after social media posts of her using a racial slur against Asians were found by fans.
Both Escobar and Ortega apologised for their actions after they were dumped from the villa.
