Love Island star training to become a fireman in career U-turn after becoming a dad

New dad Dom Lever has gone from causing heat in the Love Island villa to putting out flames after signing up to join the fire brigade.

The 31-year-old, who met his now wife Jessica Shears on the ITV2 show in 2017, is in training to become a firefighter after deciding the time was right to switch careers.

Dom has a growing family to support - Jess, 28, gave birth to another baby this summer, with youngest son Presley getting a little brother.

The couple are one of Love Island's biggest success stories, after meeting on the show five years ago and falling head over heels in love.

Now he is taking steps to keep everyone safe by getting down to work at Newton Abbot fire station in Devon.

The telly hunk isn't sure to get in, mind you - and has been told he will have to put in the hours to show he has what it takes.

“They have already started to demonstrate the correct attributes and skills required to be called a firefighter," a spokesperson told The Sun.

“They still have a way to go in their training before being deemed as fully competent, but we’re confident they will prove they have what it takes to be part of the team.”

The duo appeared in the third series of the ITV2 show.

Despite Jess being dumped from the island two weeks before Dom, the pair reunited on the outside.

The two of them have remained together ever since, even staging a fake wedding on ITV's This Morning in front of millions of viewers.

Jess and Dom are part of a select group of Love Island couples who have stood the test of time and gone on to have children.

Other former islanders with babies now include: Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt, Cara De la Hoyde and Nathan Massey and Olivia and Alex Bowen.

A year after their season of Love Island, which was won by Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies, the pair tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in Mykonos.

The following year the lovebirds welcomed their first baby boy together.

Since leaving Love Island behind, Jess has launched her clothing brand Natral & Nuutral.

The clothing brand specialises in neutral baby clothes for youngsters, something she says she is passionate about.
