Love Island star Gemma Owen wants to be a billionaire like her hero Kylie Jenner

Love Island star Gemma Owen has set herself a goal – to be a billionaire like Kylie Jenner.

The daughter of ex-England striker Michael Owen has big plans and takes inspiration from Kylie’s reality show family the Kardashians.

Gemma, who competes in international dressage, is on the Spanish isle of Majorca, where ITV ’s dating show kicks off tomorrow.

She already has an eye on the future and says: “I would love to carry on with my business which I have just set up. It’s called OG Beachwear. I will be wearing a few bits in the villa, it’s a small collection at the moment.

“I really like the Kardashians, I watch them on telly and I follow them on social media.

“I think they are all good, powerful business women, what they have made for themselves is really inspiring, I’m a massive fan. Who wouldn’t like to be a billionaire like Kylie?”

Like the Kardashians, Gemma comes from a wealthy family with dad Michael, 42 – a former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Man United star – worth an estimated £54million.

In March 2019, Forbes named Kylie, now 24, the world’s youngest “self-made” billionaire. The magazine valued her company, Kylie Cosmetics, at more than $900million.

Cheshire lass Gemma was approached on several occasions to go on Love Island – and agreed after a below-par start to the riding season.

She explains: “The summer months are the most important months for my dressage, so the thought of leaving that for two months was not an option and riding takes my priority.

“But my season didn’t get off to a great start this year, so I thought this season will be the best.”

On Friday Michael told the Mirror his daughter signing up for the raunchy TV show is “probably a father’s worst nightmare”. But he says he and wife Louise are backing their girl 100%. He said: “I have no doubts that she will make us all proud. It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do you’ve got to be supportive. I think old, grumpy men like me will always have an opinion on it because I don’t watch it and you just hear the snippets. But she assures me it’s not as bad as I think.

“So, we’ll give it a watch and I hope she enjoys herself.”

Michael, who is also dad to James, 16, Emily, 15, and Jessica, 11, said Gemma is a sensible girl and added: “I think I’ve given her a decent enough grounding to be respectful.” Gemma said this week she will avoid disrespecting or embarrassing her family on the show.

Love Island kicks off on ITV2 at 9pm on Monday
