Love Island's Paige Thorne hailed as hero after saving life of man who suffered stroke in doctor's office

Love Island star Paige Thorne has been hailed by a man whose life she once saved after he had had a stroke.

The 23-year-old paramedic from Swansea is among the favourites to win the Virgin Media dating show alongside current partner Adam Collard.

She's become a fan favourite thanks to her bubbly personality, and even vowed to return to work as a paramedic no matter what happened on the competition.

Andy Humphries is certainly grateful for the Welsh native - as he revealed that she once saved his life.

The 58-year-old had been feeling unwell and decided to go and see his GP, but had a stroke as he waited in reception.

He told WalesOnline: "They had to resuscitate me, and Paige was one of the paramedics called to the scene.

"When I came round, she was there and was so dedicated, she waited with me for seven hours in the ambulance and as I waited at hospital.

"I owe my life to her, and she was so good to me. She waited with me when I got to the hospital, she stayed while I had scans. It happened just before the first lockdown, and she told me that she had not long qualified, but she was amazing and totally wonderful.

"She is only tiny, but she has a big personality and she will be fantastic on the show, but I do feel very protective about her and don't want anyone being horrible to her.. I can't speak highly enough of her.

"It was only when her shift ended and she had made sure that everyone was fully briefed about my condition, that she left my side."
