Maya Jama has spoken out about her romance with Stormzy as she prepares to make her hosting debut on Love Island this month.
The presenter, 28, met the Vossi Bop star, 29, in 2015 before he'd even released a single.
The pair dated for four years before calling it a day, although recent rumours suggested the former flames have rekindled their romance.
However, breaking their fans' hearts, Maya confirmed she is "really, really single now" as she opened up about her romance with the star.
"We were so young when we met, just beginning our careers. I was starting at MTV. He’d not even released a single at that point. We were just little babies," she mused.
Maya conceded she knew people would be interested in her private life, but that neither she nor Stormzy knew their relationship "was going to be such a big thing", reports The Sunday Times.
"We were just: we’re young and in love and we’re going to go for it and work really hard," she said.
"We’re just together. We never really did red carpets. We didn’t do any of that stuff."
With real-life couple goals, Maya and Stormzy seemed to be going from strength-to-strength as the rapper wrote a song named 'Birthday Girl' for Maya.
The former Radio 1 host also appeared in the star's music video for his chart-topping hit, Big For Your Boots in 2017.
Stormzy even hinted that marriage was on the cards, telling the Sunday Mirror in 2018: "I’m still so young but I want to propose, it’s going to happen and I will do it right. She is so sick, she is the best."
However, things took a turn when the couple split in 2019 after which rumours about Stormzy's fidelity began circulating.
In an interview on Charlamagne tha God's YouTube channel in January 2020, the Londonder denied cheating, but did say he was "out publicly being a rapper, being very inconsiderate to the fact that I've just come out of the most public relationship".
Maya moved on with Kendall Jenner's ex Ben Simmons, who popped the question in 2021.
However, they split up last year with a source telling the New York Post: “After many long nights and hours of heartfelt talks, they finally realised as much as they love each other, their nonstop careers and endless travel have made it incredibly impossible to make it work."
Maya now has her hands full stepping into Laura Whitmore's shoes as she makes her eagerly-awaited debut fronting Love Island later this month.
