They were once upon a time, one of the closest set of friends in the Love Island villa, but almost four years on from their time on the ITV2 dating show, Maura Higgins and Lucie Donlan appear to be the furthest thing from friends.
Appearing alongside Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae-Hague and Amber Gill on the 2019 series, Maura, 32, has now cemented an incredibly special friendship with new mum Molly-Mae - with her even labelling the Pretty Little Things creative director as her 'best friend'.
Although Maura and Lucie used to be the best of friends, it seems that Molly-Mae, 23, has now taken up the spot.
Things between Irish beauty Maura and Cornwall native Lucie, 25, appeared to take a turn for the worst when one eagle-eyed Instagram user discovered that Maura had unfollowed her former best friend in autumn last year.
Despite hitting the unfollow button on Lucie's page, Maura decided to still keep following Lucie's husband-to-be, Luke Mabbott - a move that didn't go unnoticed by fans.
At the time, it came as a huge surprise to Love Island fans, who witnessed Maura and Lucie often enjoying trips away together and supporting each other on social media, through thick and thin.
It has now been reported that their trip away to the Maldives may have been the nail in the coffin for their friendship.
According to reports, the pair 'drifted apart' after they went on the luxurious holiday together.
In December 2021, Maura and Lucie headed off on their girly getaway, but it seems the quality time spent together sparked havoc.
An insider told The Sun: "Lucie and Maura just drifted apart - it was fun when they were both single and going on holidays together but Lucie's settling down in Cornwall with her fiancé and Maura lives in London.
"When Maura unfollowed Lucie though, it was a bit of a shock. Clearly they weren't as close as Lucie thought they were, as it was a bit of a harsh move and ended the friendship on a bit of a sour note," they added.
Maura and Lucie had supported each other through thick and thin over recent years, with the Irish star even sending Lucie flowers in January 2021 amid claims the Cornish surfer refused to learn how to pronounce co-star Yewande Biala's name during their time in the Love Island villa three years ago amid a race row.
Lucie - who recently shared her plans to elope - shared a video of the gorgeous bouquet sent to her by the Irish beauty to her Instagram Stories at the time, alongside the caption: "Love you Maura Higgins... Miss you so much just want to give you the biggest cuddle."
The Mirror has reached out to Maura and Lucie's representatives for comment on this story.
