Maura Higgins has addressed speculation that she’ll appear on Love Island All Stars, admitting she’s “never going to go back on” the ITV2 dating series.
The international spin-off will make its on-screen debut in the new year, with past contestants coupling up as bombshells put relationships to the test with Maya Jama as host and Ian Sterling narrating.
While the cast is yet to be confirmed, it’s been reported that Megan Barton Hanson and Curtis Pritchard have joined the programme, which will feature former stars from the UK, US and Aussie versions.
Higgins became a fan favourite during her appearance on 2019’s instalment and she recently landed a gig as the social ambassador for the US version of the show.
However, fans hoping to see her on the All Stars edition will be disappointed as she confirmed she won’t be returning.
During an Instagram Q&A, the 32-year-old said: “I’m not sure how many times I have to answer this.
“I’m never going to go back on to Love Island. Like, no, because I didn’t enjoy myself, it was such an incredible experience, it changed my life, it gave me the platform I have today.
“But I feel like I’ve done it once and I think once is enough and I’m a bit old for that,” she continued.
“I’m not going to go back on the show, I feel like I’m really enjoying what I’m doing… I just don’t really want to go backwards, I want to look forward.
“Like not saying anything bad about people that would do it again but, like, each to their own but yeah just not me.”
After news of the All Stars spin-off broke, Mike Spencer, Creative Director of Lifted Entertainment, which produces Love Island, teased viewers what’s in store.
He said: “It has been rumoured now for a while but we are thrilled to finally confirm that we are making Love Island: All Stars early next year for ITV2 and ITVX.
“It’s set to be a must-watch series seeing some of your favourite Islanders from across the years heading back to the stunning South African villa to once again ‘graft’ as their search for love continues. I simply can’t wait.”
