Love Island's Luca branded 'insecure' by viewers after spat with Andrew

Love Island hopeful Luca has been taking flak on social media with viewers branding the islander 'insecure'.

The criticisms came after he insisted that Andrew denied being upset that Tasha was having a private conversation with another one of the other boys. But despite saying he was fine, Luca kept pushing the issues and tried to pressure him into saying he was upset.

New boy Jacques pulled Tasha aside for a quiet chat, as he began getting to know all of the girls in the villa. However, in another area of the garden, Luca asked the others where Tasha was, with Paige answering: “With Jacques, they’re having a chit chat.” The news was met with some whoops and whistles from the islanders.

At first, Luca sought to reassure Andrew by saying “I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about". Andrew responded by saying: “I couldn’t care less to be honest.”

Seemingly not believing a word of it, Luca replied with: “No, no, you do care. Nah mate, I would care. I would admit I am upset." But Andrew insisted he was not bothered. He insisted: “I am not upset.”

Finally, Luca said: “You literally are denying facts mate. You’re shooting yourself in the foot if she hears anything you’ve said.”

The awkward exchange then led to Andrew having to explain his response to Tasha, who thought he should have cared a little.

ITV's Love Island always promises drama, and recent episodes have proved to be no exception. Series eight of the show (which first aired back in 2015) has been one of the most talked-about yet.

Recently, we've seen things get particularly interesting with the introduction of Gemma Owen's ex Jacques O'Neil into the group. Upon voicing the remarkable similarity of the as-yet-unidentified new arrival, she replied she "would f*****g die" if it turned out to be her ex of eight months… which it did.

Tonight's episode proved to be almost as exciting for fans, as we got treated to Indiyah and Ikenna's first kiss, Amber and Dami's first date, and all of it topped off with a surprise dumping, as the islanders gathered around the fire pit in response to a mysterious text.

Views from social media

Instead of reading a lot into the interaction between Jacques and Tasha, Twitter instead seemed to focus on what Andrew and Luca's conversation really revealed about Luca.

@dnfshelium tweeted: “Why is Luca proper pushing his insecurities onto Andrew? #LoveIsland.” While @itsqueenissi_ added@ “Luca is so insecure.”

@Leighhhh_xx said: “Not Luca getting his knickers in a twist pls #LoveIsland.” @luciemccarthy07 also tweeted “luca if you’re insecure just say that #LoveIsland”

What new drama Love Island will bring next episode is anyone's guess, but this season has certainly proved interesting already.

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
