Love Island's Luca Bish jokes about Gemma's dad Michael Owen - and she looks unimpressed

Luca Bish finally mentioned Gemma Owen's dad Michael in the Love Island villa last night - but she didn't seem keen.

The couple have been going from strength to strength after pairing up early on in the show, after Gemma's failed romances with Liam and Davide, and now they seem stronger than ever as talk turns to their future.

As well as the Hideaway previously, the pair headed out on a beach date during yesterday's programme, where talk soon turned to their future together and what might be in store for the pair of them after the show ends later this summer.

And during the chat, Luca finally made a joke about Gemma's famous dad Michael Owen, but his comment didn't seem to go down well with Gemma as she shot him a look over what he said.

"When we get out of here, obviously got to meet each other's families. Spend a bit of time, stuff like that. Do you think I'd get on with them?" Luca asked her as the pair cosied down for their romantic day date.

Gemma then replied: "Yeah, you have got a similar humour to my dad to be fair."

Whilst she was smiling throughout the date, her face fell when he made the joke (ITV)

"If only I could kick a ball the same as him," Luca joked back and whilst Gemma initially smiled, she shot a look at him and raised her eyebrows as he quickly went on to say: "Do you think your mum will like me?"

Gemma then shared: "I hope to God because if she doesn't then we're screwed because if my mum doesn't like you then it's a no!"

Fans hoping to see the football star in the villa will be disappointed as Michael recently confirmed he would not be in the Meet The Parents episode and that Gemma's mum would be taking that place instead.

Speaking to Sky Sports At The Races after watching his horse run, Michael admitted he wasn't going to be heading into the ITV2 villa: "My wife will do that duty. I'll represent the horses and she'll represent the daughter."

He added: "I don't know what I'll get from Box To Box. But I know what I'm going to get from my daughter. I've fathered her for 19 years so I'm pretty sure what I'm going to get from her."
