Love Island's Gemma Owen 'gives away' dad Michael's identity with obvious clues

Gemma Owen pretty much gave away who her famous dad is with some very 'obvious' clues during a chat on Thursday's Love Island.

As soon as Gemma's name was included on the list of Love Island contestants last week, many fans of the show put two and two together and quickly realised that her dad was none other than football hero Michael Owen. In her intro VT before she went into the villa, Gemma dropped a number of not so subtle clues such as what her 'goal' was on the show and if she'd 'score.'

Those weren't seen by her fellow Islanders but at the end of the first episode, it looked like Liam was ready to expose her after he asked what her second name was. And, it was during a chat with another guy in the villa, Luca, right near the end of Thursday's Love Island, that the 19-year-old came dangerously close to spilling the beans on her dad.

After Luca told Gemma, who was rattled by new arrival Ekin-Su, he would 'switch beds,' if he could, he quizzed her on who her family would get on best with out of the boys in the villa, to which she replied: "You, because you're into football, you're into racing...I think my dad would...I feel like you'd have stuff in common."

Luca then asked Gemma if he and her dad would 'go out and do things together,' to which she told him: "He was quite close with my first boyfriend and I think he sort of appreciates a guy who s into sport and all of that kind of thing. I've heard you talk about football and racing and I'm just like hmmm."

As well as playing football for the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle, Real Madrid and England, Gemma's dad Michael is also a huge racing fans and owns a host of horses, something else Gemma has eluded to so far in the villa.
