Love Island's Gemma and Luca set to drop the L-word after she spoke of mum's approval

Love Island's Gemma Owen and Luca Bish are slowly but surely becoming one of the villa's most serious couples.

The pair have been together since almost the start and their romance has gone from strength-to-strength, despite bombshells entering the villa and the girls' trip to Casa Amor.

Wednesday night's episode of the ITV2 show saw Gemma and Luca enjoy their first proper date as they exited the property and went for dinner and drinks by the ocean.

The pair spoke about their future and how serious they are about one another, and it seems the conversation continues during Thursday's episode.

Fresh from the fire pit and another recoupling, ITV spoilers reveal that Gemma and Luca share a private moment on the terrace where they reflect on their date, the performance and their time in the villa together.

Luca says: "Today has been the best day in the Villa. I wouldn’t want it with anyone else."

And as the pair continue to talk, it seems like the conversation could be turning to three important words, but will one of them actually say I love you?

During their date Luca asked Gemma: "So what are we thinking? When we get out of here, obviously we've gotta meet each other's family and spend a bit of time and stuff like that. Do you think I'll get on with them?"

Gemma replied: "Yeah you have got a similar humour to my dad to be fair."

"If only I could kick a ball the same as him!" Luca then joked, referring to Gemma's dad who is former footballer Michael Owen.

Gemma warned Luca that he will need to get her mother's seal of approval (ITV)

"Do you think you mum will like me?" he then asked, to which Gemma replied: "I hope to God because if she doesn't, then we're screwed!"

"Why are we screwed?" he quickly said, as Gemma explained: "Because if my mum doesn't like you, then it's a no!"

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
