Love Island's final date confirmed by Maya Jama as last episode to air in weeks

The Love Island finale is just around the corner, and it's a lot closer than a lot of fans of the ITV dating show might think.

The ninth series of the hit ITV2 show kicked off in mid-January and fans have watched this year's islanders search for love in the villa. However, many fans have said they are "relieved" the winter season is over among a string of Ofcom complaints.

But all good things must come to an end, as host Maya Jama took to social media to confirm the final will air on Monday, March 13 - less than two weeks from now.

The 28-year-old posted: "Guys I have some very exciting news. The Love Island final is going to be on Monday 13 March. It's going to be major!"

Stunning fans in a plunging red dress, the brunette beauty announced the news from outside the South African villa as she stood in front of the iconic pink heart.

And meanwhile, the ITV2 host is set to enter the villa during tonight's episode on Thursday to further rock the remaining couples as she delivers the news of the latest dumping.

Maya could have passed for a bombshell herself during Wednesday night's show as she strutted into the villa flaunting her stunning figure in a racy red dress detailed with frills across her chest and her neck in the shape of a rose.

She explained: "I’m sure you’re all asking yourselves why I’m here, I’ve got some very important news. The public have been voting for the most compatible couple. The couples with the fewest votes risk being dumped from the Island tonight."

The radio DJ delivered news of the dumping at the Beach Club where the islanders had been enjoying a lavish party in the sun. The fun promptly came to a halt at her entrance as they were instructed to gather together in their couples.

Viewers were left speechless as original Islander Olivia and Maxwell were the first of two couples sent home.

The pair have a difficult decision ahead of them tonight. They were left shocked at being told they had to choose who would also be packing their bags between the four remaining couples - Rosie and Casey, Tanya and Shaq, and Claudia and Keanan.

Reacting to the news of the final just around the corner, viewers said couldn't wait for the rest to unfold. The episodes still to come include the final dates and the emotional 'meet the parents' episode is also predicted.

One person said they have "ordered a Martin-sized popcorn bucket" in a nod to ex-contestant from Casa Amor Martin Akinola who left viewers in stitches during movie night as he chomped away care-free on popcorn as the other islanders bickered.

Another voiced who they want to win, they said: "Kai and sanam or Shaq and Tanya (even after her antics)or Ron and Lana top 3 for me in no order tho."

"Just hand the 50k to Kai and Sanam, the rest of the couples are mediocre at best," quipped a third person.

But not everyone was sad to see the end of the show, with some fans admitting they are "happy" it is coming to an end after being left disappointed by the season

"For the first time ever i’m actually happy it’s coming to an end this season has been a true torture to watch," said one Twitter user. Another penned: "Give the viewers the £50k for watching the season instead."

A third added: "I've never been more excited for this god awful season to end."

Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 and ITX.
