Love Island 2022 winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has left Irish fans divided over her pronunciation of the Limerick City.
The 28-year-old reality TV star is gearing up for a trip to the Emerald Isle next week, and in preparation for her appearances in County Wexford and Limerick City, Ekin-Su took to social media to announce the exciting news with her Irish fans.
During her three-day tour across Ireland, Ekin-Su revealed that she will be making stops in Belfast, Dublin, Wexford and Limerick in partnership with beauty brand, BPerfect Cosmetics.
On her Instagram Stories, Ekin-Su promoted her upcoming trip as,the Turkish beauty listed all the locations she would be visiting.
However, Ekin-Su unknowingly sent her Irish fans into fits laughter and other into a fit of rage as she pronounced county Limerick as ‘Lime Rick'.
The endearing clip has quickly started doing the rounds on Twitter, as social media users admitted they were 'obsessed' with her mispronunciation.
However, others weren't too impressed as they insisted that Ekin-Su should have done her research on Irish towns and cities she is set to visit next week.
"Completely and utterly obsessed with how Ekin-Su has pronounced Limerick. It's going to be called LIME RICK from now on," one fan quipped.
"Ekin-Su for the new mayor of Limerick," another echoed.
"Hahahahahaha LIME Rick, as if I couldn't love this woman any more than I already do," someone else joked.
However, other unimpressed social media users slammed Ekin-Su, calling her pronunciation mistake 'idiotic'.
"How idiotic. Would she not do her research before going in front of millions of people to butcher our home city," one Irish fan fumed.
"Easy mistake to make I guess but at the same time that is sooooo embarrassing for her," someone else complained.
While another echoed: "I adore Ekin-Su but this has given me the ick."
It comes just days after Ekin-Su suggested that she's planning to 'distance' herself from Love Island, saying that she wants to be her 'own person' and pursue acting opportunities.
During her stint on Love Island last summer, she coupled up with Davide Sanclimenti, 28 - who is now her boyfriend - and the pair ended up winning the show after reaching the final together last year.
Ekin-Su has since worked with brands like fashion retailer Oh Polly! and took part in the latest series of Dancing on Ice recently.
She's now suggested that she doesn't want to be confined to the "scene" associated with Love Island, telling Women's Health UK that she wants to "distance" herself from it.
Ekin-Su said she often hears that she could be "forgotten" as new Islanders in new series subsequently rising to prominence on the show, which recently wrapped its second winter series.
She, however, stated that she's not fazed by it, commenting: "That doesn't bother me because of who I am." Ekin-Su added that she knows what she's going to do in her life.
Discussing her ambitions, she commented: "Acting in films; playing roles and quirky characters; something that would make you think, 'Oh, Ekin is not this,' but then I smash it…"
Ekin-Su told the outlet that she planned to start looking for an acting agency this month and put herself out there.
She added: "That’s when I start looking for an acting agency, putting myself out, you know, try to distance myself as much as I can from the Love Island scene and, yeah, be my own person."
