Love Island’s eagle-eyed viewers spotted that Amber Beckford and Dami Hope seemed to be less than pleased that the public chose to couple them up with one another.
Dami, 26, and Amber, 24, waltzed into the new Spanish villa alongside a host of new Islanders as the hit ITV reality dating show got off to a sensational start.
But host Laura Whitmore soon confirmed it would be very different this year in a Love Island first, and this time the girls would not get a say.
Instead, it was up to viewers to vote and choose which girl and which boy they wanted to be coupled up.
As a new couple was minted as Dami had been chosen to sleep in a bed with Amber, a number of discerning viewers spotted that the new couple seemed to be “disappointed” the public vote had made that choice during the first episode.
Taking to Twitter, fans of the show were quick to notice that the new Islanders looked a little taken aback by the public's decision.
One viewer penned: "Dami & amber are in mourning,” as another added: "Dami isn't impressed with Amber."
A third was quick to tweet: "Amber didn’t not receive such a reception from Dami."
While a fourth said: "Amber and Dami are mad awkward Omdz [oh my days]."
And a fifth offered: "Dami is RAGING, Amber is RAGING... this is gonna be an absolute hot mess!"
The show had confirmed the shake-up on Twitter ahead of the launch, with the public told to make their decisions just days before the show would kick off.
A tweet on their official account read: "For the first time ever, you get to have your say on who couples up on Day 1! Head to the app to play matchmaker and pick which boy you think should couple up with each girl. The polls will close at 9am Saturday."
Now the results of that vote are in, with the first five couples of the 2022 series revealed – ahead of bombshell Davide stealing one of the girls for himself.
Long-time commentator of Love Island Iain Stirling appeared on Lorraine ahead of the first episode to share the exciting news with fans.
Talking to Christine Lampard on Lorraine, he said: "I'm never given any information ever but I'm coming at you now with a big fat exclusive.
"This year, for the first year ever, we want you guys at home to play cupid. You will have your say on which boy couples up with which girl."
"It's a fantastic poll where you get to decide who's getting coupled up with who.
"You get to look at all the Islanders, get a vibe, see who you think suits to who - or maybe who doesn't suit to who.
"Then put them together and then we can watch the fireworks fly."
