Love Island's Cara De La Hoyde has told fans she has started taking antidepressants again after a "hard few days".
The 31-year-old has spoken openly in the past about her struggles with depression and earlier today shared a candid update on Instagram, telling her 1.1m followers: "There is no shame in asking for help."
The mum of two, who is married to her fellow Love Island star Nathan Massey, wrote: "So yesterday I took the step to start back on Citalopram after a really hard few days I admitted to myself that I needed help."
Alongside the caption, Cara, who won the ITV 2 show in 2016 with Nathan, shared two pictures of herself and a friend at a theatre, where they saw the musical Hairspray.
She wrote: "Instead of posting some same cliche picture I'm posting one that makes me smile... Over 10 years of friendship will do that," followed by the heart emoji.
Cara finished her emotional post: "Medication is not week and there's no shame in asking for help."
Many praised Cara's candour and said they could relate, with one person writing: "Inspiration! Wishing you a happier and healthier journey."
Another penned: "No shame at all, mental health needs to be spoken about more. Well done for reaching out."
A third said: "Thank you for making us struggling mums feel normal! Sending all my love and strength."
In 2017, Cara told Reveal magazine that she had suffered from depression since she was 15, but it returned again after she appeared on Love Island.
She said: "The worst point came after Love Island.
"Nobody trains you for how intense it is, and you are constantly being judged.
Looking back, she says she wish she had spoken to someone about what she was going through as she didn't know how to cope with it, and she didn't feel like herself anymore.
She added: "There would be times I'd lock myself in my bedroom for days, and just sit there and cry."
The star is known for being honest on social media and in January last year, she admitted that the third national lockdown had "really got to her".
Cara said that she "can't pretend everything's perfect when it's not" and that she is putting on a "brave face" for her two young children - Freddie and Delilah.
People were ordered to stay at home during the third lockdown and schools were closed.
Cara shared a snap of her cuddling her kids on the sofa, and wrote: "You all know I'm one to show you my reality. This lockdown has really gotten to me, it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel right now.
"But when these 2 are depending on we have to put on a brave face and get through the day. Ino that's how a lot of parents out there are feeling right now."
Finishing on an optimistic note, she reassured parents "we will get there" and that she is trying to cherish the time with her family.
