Football legend Michael Owen has clapped back at an inappropriate tweet about his 19-year-old daughter. Gemma Owen is the youngest contestant in this year's Love Island series.
The 19-year-old has been at the centre of a few storylines since the show began last week. The Owen family has kept tight-lipped during her stint on the reality show.
But one vile comment caused her Micheal Owen to clap back on Twitter, Birmingham Live reports. Glasgow City FC under-18 academy coach Paul Proud cruelly tweeted: “Can’t wait to see her getting smashed.”
Owen hit back, saying: “What a fine example to set from a man in your responsible position.” Yesterday, Owen shed light on his stance on Gemma taking part in the show.
He said: “No father wants to see physical contact, do they? I certainly don’t. If there is physical contact I think I’ll be throwing something at the screen. I don’t want to see kissing. Do not make me see kissing.”
During the recoupling ceremony on Friday night, 23-year-old fishmonger Luca Bish, who had been coupled up with Paige, picked dressage-rider Gemma, 19, after confessing his true feelings the previous night. Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and also on the ITV Hub on demand platform and catch up service.
