Love Island: Martin Lewis denies rumours that he will present spin-off for older adults

MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis has shut down rumours that he is being considered as a presenter for a spin-off of Love Island. ITV announced recently that it is on the prowl for "vibrant single parents across the UK who are in search of love" to appear on The Romance Retreat.

The format of the show will be very similar to that of Love Island, with contestants making their way to a luxury villa where it is hoped they will find the love of their life. Whilst the concepts of Love Island and The Romance Retreat are very similar, it is not yet known whether the stars of the latter will be competing for a cash prize.

The Romance Retreat has caught the eye of a number of celebrities, including Linda Robson and Alison Hammond, both of whom said they would be interested in signing up for the show on Loose Women and This Morning respectively. Regular This Morning guest and former politician Gyles Brandreth told Alison that his grandchildren 'rather sweetly' nominated him to appear on the new dating show.

It is not yet known who will be presenting The Romance Retreat, but the rumour mill has been turning, with some publications reportedly speculating that financial guru Martin Lewis could present the show. The 50-year-old has now shut down such reports on Twitter.

Martin wrote: "Apparently there's media speculation that I'm in running to present ITV's new older person's Love Island!

"Let me tell you exclusively... And utterly unsurprisingly... It's never been mentioned to me, and if it were, I'd politely decline - I've got a lot of work on!"

The financial journalist is known to many through his website, MoneySavingExpert.com, and countless appearances on daytime TV, often taking calls from viewers with money woes on This Morning. More recently, Martin stepped in as a presenter on Good Morning Britain, and hosts The Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV in front of a live audience every Tuesday.

With the cost of living crisis rumbling on, Martin certainly has his work cut out for him, as he constantly dishes out tips in a bid to help those struggling keep warm and put food on the table this winter. In recognition of the invaluable advice he gives, Martin was awarded the National Television Award for Most Popular TV Expert in October 2022.
