Love Island favourite Molly Marsh speaks of her 'shock' at 'brutal' dumping from show

Molly Marsh has told of her shock after being turfed off Love Island by text - in a twist dubbed “brutal and demonic”.

The actress – who was one of the favourites to win the ITV2 series – was axed after Kady McDermott, 27, stole her love interest Zachariah Noble, 25.

Viewers were stunned as Zach switched allegiance to Kady and hugged her in Friday’s drama.

Then, as islanders sat outside their Majorcan villa, Molly’s phone pinged – and she read out a text telling her to pack her bags.

Speaking for the first time last night, 21-year-old Yorkshire lass Molly said she still wants to be with Zach.

She said: “When I got the text, everyone was so shocked. No one expected it. My eyes went straight to the word ‘bags’ and I thought: ‘Oh my goodness, I’m going.’ I saw Zach’s face drop. Seeing Kady and Zach standing in front of me together, my heart dropped. I didn’t want to see it, but I understood it needed to happen and I trust in the timing of the universe.

“I knew it was clearly my time to go and if something good will come from me and Zach then it still will.

“If he finds something with Kady then that’s that. But everything happens for a reason.

“I will definitely wait for him – I want to carry on where we left off, because there’s still unfinished conversations.

“I wish I’d spoken to Zach to say: ‘I’ll be waiting. I really want this to carry on’. But no words could come out of my mouth. I was so speechless.”

Molly was one of the favourites to win the ITV2 series (ITV)

This summer’s opening episode of the show, hosted by Maya Jama, was viewed by 1.3million – down from the 2.4million for last year’s launch. Friday’s episode was watched by an average of 915,000 viewers.

And after Molly’s shock dumping, many took to social media. One wrote: “That has to have been the most brutal dumping ever.”

Another added: “That was brut... the silence was awful.”

And a third user said: “Love Island saw their ratings were low at the beginning of the season and went full on demon mode.”
