Love Island fans think villa dumping is 'a fix' after public vote cliff-hanger

Love Island fans are reeling from another dramatic episode of the ITV2 show ending on a cliffhanger.

The latest update from Spain on Tuesday night saw host Laura Whitmore make an appearance on screen, as four Islanders discovering they are at risk of being dumped from the villa.

Prior to the Irish presenter surprising them with the shock news, the Islanders had been enjoying a jaunt away from the villa - dancing the day away at the Vibe Club with DJ Joel Corry for a very special VIP party.

But the fun came to an end when Laura popped in to inform them the public had been voting for their favourite boy and girl, and the two boys and two girls who had received the least votes would be at risk of leaving that night.

It was then revealed Danica Taylor and Summer Botwe were the two girls at risk of leaving, whilst Billy Brown and Dami Hope were the boys facing the possibility of heading home early. Only one boy and one girl will leave.

"I'm sorry but you have received the fewest from the public," Laura explained to the four Islanders.

"Two of you will not be returning to the villa tonight, and that decision is in the hands of your fellow Islanders."

As predicted, the episode ending on another dramatic cliffhanger - with Laura telling the rest of the Islanders they have to decide which two contestants will be booted off the show.

Fans watching at home were quick to take to social media to share their views on the twist - blasting the show for not allowing the public vote to have the final say on who goes.

"Who are the producers on #loveisland man. What’s the point of the public vote if you keep leaving it for the islanders to save their favourites? Such a fix," one disappointed fan mused on Twitter.

"I don't know why the f**k we bother voting, they are just going to fix it so they get the result they want," another claimed, with a third adding: "How many ‘public vote’ has actually seen the person the public want out happen. So convenient to put it in the hands of the Islanders. This shouldn’t be their choice it’s the publics!!!"

Others predicted which two Islanders will get the chop from the show.

"What's the point in the public vote? Just let them decide anyway because it's pretty obvious who's going from those 4 now, some cliffhanger that," one wrote online, with another declaring: ""Billy and Summer are obviously gone, that cliffhanger was so pointless."

There is nothing to suggest the vote has actually been a fix, with Love Island always being transparent that the public vote would just decide which Islanders would be at risk of leaving the villa - never implying that the public would have the final say on who leaves.

Love Island has just a couple of weeks left on air, with the final set to air on Monday August 1. Only one couple will win the ITV2 show and have a chance to bag either the whole - or a share of - £50,000.

But it could be anyone's game, as even the strongest of couples are at risk with the pending vote off.

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
