Love Island fans have long suspected some of the contestants have been aware of Gemma Owen's famous dad's identity. They finally have proof that the boys have known for a long time - after a departing Islander confirmed they knew just a couple of days into the show starting.
Ikenna Ekwonna joined the ITV2 programme's sofa on Sunday night alongside Amber Beckford, after being voted off the dating show. During the interview, he revealed the boys had known about former professional footballer turned sports pundit, Michael Owen being Gemma's dad since the first week of being in the villa, The Mirror reports.
The news came when comedian Darren Harriott asked Ikenna: "You're a big football fan like me. What was it like getting a foot massage from Michael Owen's daughter?". The 23-year-old replied: "Do you know what's mad? We didn't really know until like the second or third day, but I don't think the girls knew that the guys knew."

The revelation left many Love Island fans taking to social media, saying they believed it explained why sport fan Luca from Brighton - who was originally paired with Paige Thorne - had switched to Gemma and was asking the 19-year-old questions about her dad.
Tamsina tweeted: "They found out around the third day who Gemma’s dad was and that was when Luca started showing interest OHHHHHH". Whilst Ash added: "So they found out Michael Owen was Gemma’s dad day 3 and that was when Luca suddenly became interested in her."
"Luca knowing that Gemma is Michael Owens daughter makes so much sense," Honey posted: "His obsession and interest in her happened AFTER the boys found out who her dad was on day 3". Jem added: "Luca realised he hit the jackpot with Gemma being Michael Owens daughter. #LoveIsland".
Vinnz tweeted: "Ohhh so they all knew from day 2 that Gemma is Michael Owen's daughter. This explains Luca’s madness #LoveIsland #aftersun". Muriam posted: "So they all know that it’s Michael Owens daughter. Why has Luca never mentioned this or have they purposely avoided airing those scenes. Something to think about considering how clingy Luca is with Gemma. #loveisland"
Gemma mentioned her dad in a segment that was shown on Love Island's Unseen Bits show on Saturday night. She took part in the Beach Hut Bonanza segment where she was asked to do her best impression.
"Who can I do?,” She contemplated before adding: "There's no way I'm going to do my dad, but people always do the classic, 'If they don't score, they don't win',” She added: "It's something like that. It's some bull**** or whatever."
Love Island continues tonight on ITV2 from 9pm. Love Island's spin-off show After Sun airs each Sunday from 10pm on ITV2.
