Love Island fans slam Gemma Owen for 'Mean Girls' behaviour

Love Island's Ekin-Su received a brutally honest response from Amber during Monday's episode after asking what she thought of her.

It came after Jay told Ekin-Su, who he is coupled up with, that he doesn't think Paige or Amber like her. Ekin-Su pulled Amber for a chat immediately and asked her if there was any truth to what Jay said.

Amber explained she likes Ekin-Su but has recently "questioned whether she is genuine". Ekin-Su hit back and said: "Well you're hardly secure in your relationship, are you?"

Hearing the conversation getting heated, the other girls joined the conversation. Ekin-Su asked what she had done to have her personality questioned and criticised. Gemma interjected, saying: "I think you're calculated, you know exactly what you're doing."

Ekin-Su looked upset, but explained she wouldn't apologise for her personality. Viewers at home were torn over the argument, but many were unimpressed with Gemma's actions - with some comparing her to a character from Mean Girls.

Taking to Twitter, Sadi said: "Gemma acted like Ekin-Su's best friend but thinks she's calculated?? Huh". Adia said: "Gemma told Ekin-Su not to feel bad for her actions, but is now speaking on behalf of the girls saying her actions are questionable. Excuse me are you Regina George?"

Gemma said: "Ekin-Su needed telling but Amber was doing it, didn't need a Mean Girls pile-on, esp from her 'friend' Gemma".
