Love Island fans have gone wild after an unexpected blend of worlds. Bristol City confirmed the signing of Scottish footballer Ross McCrorie at 9pm on Tuesday night - and went for a Love Island-themed announcement video.
Playing on the ITV2 show's bombshell-dropping announcements, the video features clips from shocked Love Island contestants alongside show host Maya Jama revealing a new arrival. But rather than a new handsome hunk entering the Majorca villa, however, the video shows new Bristol City defender McCrorie casually standing in front of Ashton Gate stadium.
McCrorie has signed a three-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months, the same length of deal as defender Rob Dickie agreed just 24 hours earlier. While Bristol City fans celebrated the 'game-changing' signing, Love Island fans gushed over the announcement video - although one fan noted the irony of using Bristol Rovers-fan Maya Jama in the announcement video

In the clip, Maya can be seen revealing a surprise to shocked contestants, saying: "This is Love Island. You never know when someone will walk through that door."
Fans praised the video with one saying: "ADMIN YOU BEAUTY," while another added: "Omg I didn’t think you were going to do it."
Someone else noted: "Using the Rovers fan Maya Jama in the reveal!," while another joked: "Ah Maya Jama, great signing!"
Other fans said it was a "belter" reveal, and a "class" move from the Bristol City Twitter admin.
On his move to Bristol, McCrorie told bcfc.co.uk “There is ambition at the club to progress, and for myself, it’s a new challenge and I think it's a good fit. The team is aggressive, plays on the front foot and I like playing in a team that plays that way - it was a big factor in coming to the club.
“I’ve met some of the staff and they've been great. They’ve made me feel welcome from the minute I walked in the building and I'm just really looking forward to getting started.”
