Love Island fans call for Ekin-Su to replace Laura Whitmore after 'bitter' remark

Aftersun fans have called for Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu to replace Laura Whitmore as the host after the latter made a 'bitter' comment about the Islander.

The presenter was previously slammed by fans for making comments about Ekin-Su's antics with George in Casa Amor.

Despite the Turkish actress denying anything happened, Laura continued to question what she did.

"Once again Ekin-Su swore that nothing happened with George and it seems Davide doesn’t believe her," she had said on Aftersun.

Show guest Tom Grennan added: "It deffo happened though, didn't it," with Laura turning to Sian Welby to continue the conversation on Ekin-Su.

Since then, Love Island viewers have been taking to social media to call for Ekin-Su to become the new host.

"EKIN-SU TO REPLACE LAURA WHITMORE NEXT SERIES," one user tweeted along with a snap of Ekin-Su dancing.

Another added: "Ekin-Su should take over as love island host. Sack Laura and give her the contract."

On last night's episode, Ekin-Su used her part of the talent show to compliment the women in the villa and make a few jokes.

Viewers saw that as her 'auditioning' for Laura's role.

"This is Ekin-su’s audition to take over from Laura Whitmore," one user posted while another added: "That was Ekin-Su’s audition for Laura’s job."

After Laura's comments about Ekin-Su aired on July 17, ITV came to the defence of the presenter.

Ofcom received 427 complaints on that episode of the spin-off relating to Laura's remark about the Turkish actress. The complaints were also about the treatment of Jacques O'Neill.

"Laura is the presenter of the show, and part of that role is to pose questions to the panel and discuss events in the villa," ITV said.

"‘We do not condone trolling against either our host or our Islanders and any subsequent elevation of these comments," they added to Metro.co.uk.

It comes as Laura quit her role as presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live after four years to focus on her Love Island duties.

Confirming her departure from Auntie Beeb, Heidi Dawson - controller of BBC Radio 5 Live - told MailOnline: "Laura has made the difficult decision to leave after a brilliant four years."
