Love Island bosses have confirmed there will be no more food challenges on the show after viewers dubbed them 'disgusting'.
Fans of the ITV dating show don't have long to wait until the show is back on screens, as rumours fly about who is set to enter the villa in a matter of weeks.
So far, rumoured candidates include Zara McDermott ’s brother Brad, former WAG Sophie Draper, and Ronan Keating’s daughter Missy.
Love Island executive producer Mike Spencer answered some of fans burning questions, as he hinted what is in store for the upcoming series.
While answering questions during a Q&A on Reddit, he was asked by one fan: "Why the spitting food challenges. I beg youse to stop, such a waste of food! I really think doing challenges with incentives or couple building activities would be so much better."
Executive producer Mike Spencer replied: ‘We are stepping away from the food challenges as we know them.’
Mike also hinted that the savage Casa Amor postcard twist might not be featured in this year’s series.
"We have published our duty of care protocols very publicly and we have an incredible welfare team on the series," he added.
"I agree we have to be incredibly considered when making editorial decisions. We are also making a dating entertainment series but humour is normally at the heart of most storylines.
"I think we are considered and it always becomes tricky with the passing of information but we aim to find balance in the show."
Typically, Islanders will have a break from the cameras while eating their breakfast, lunch and dinner - unless it is part of a dating meet-and-greet or a task - and are not allowed to discuss anything related to the show.
A fan asked: "We see the islanders having breakfast together and snacking throughout the day... what do they typically eat at mealtimes? I assume you have a team of chefs on-site for the islanders and production crew. Do you all eat together?"
He responded: "Yes this is a super popular question. So the Islanders tend to make their own breakfast and we cater for them at lunch and dinner. They have a real mix of foods, everything from lovely fresh salads to roast dinners on a Sunday! Even in that heat they still have a roast dinner."
By adding a gym to the villa and allowing contestants space to pump some iron, producers are hoping it will lead to ‘more hook-ups.’
"Viewers love all the scenes of rippling muscles and sexy squats," an insider said.
They added to The Sun : ‘Now producers hope that extra space for couples to work out will lead to more hook-ups as the testosterone flows.’
Love Island returns on Monday June 6 on ITV2.
