Love Island 2023: Ann Summers partners with ITV2 show to bring 'playtime' to contestants with new toys

This year's Love Island contestants are in for a racy treat as the ITV2 show and Ann Summers have agreed to a six figure deal to provide them with sex toys and lingerie. The hit reality show will be returning to our screens for a ninth series next week, the first to be hosted by Bristol's very own Maya Jama.

If the singletons get bored during their time in the luxury South African villa, they can make their way to the new Hideaway retreat to take their pick of items from the adult store, including new toys that have not been seen before, The Mirror reports. The Hideaway is where couples can find more intimacy at the weekends, away from their fellow villa residents.

Producers have revealed that part of this raunchy refuge will be decked out with lubricants, lingerie and sex toys, all of which will be provided by Ann Summers. The adult store will also be sponsoring a challenge set to take place later in the series.

Creative director Mike Spencer told The Mirror: "In previous years, we have had a little drawer. But this year we have … playtime."

The news of Love Island's partnership with Ann Summers comes after producers redesigned the villa to incorporate more private areas for contestants to sneak off to, in the hopes that there will be more young lovers getting off with one another. In addition to the retreat, which has its very own private pool for singletons to enjoy each other's company in, there is a treehouse.

Ann Summers is not the only big brand to have a partnership with the hit reality show, as Boots provides the toiletries and online marketplace eBay has announced that they will be providing this year's cast with preloved clothing for a second year. Previously, Ann Summers has partnered with former contestants Meghan Barton-Hanson and Tasha Ghouri.

Love Island will return for a ninth series on Monday, January 16 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
