Love Island 2022: Paige Thorne ready to 'tread on toes' as she makes villa debut

Paige Thorne is ready to "tread on toes" to find her man on Love Island this summer.

The 24-year-old paramedic was the first Islander to be announced for the ITV2 show, which returns to screens on Monday June 6 at 9pm, and Paige can't wait to get stuck into all the experiences - and the men - the villa has to offer.

However, she has admitted she won't beat around the bush if there's someone she really likes - and she's happy to step on other people's toes if it means she can find her ideal match during her time on the dating show.

Speaking ahead of the series, she said: "If I really like the guy and it’s worth treading on toes for, then I will, but I wouldn’t do it just to do it. I would only do it if it was absolutely necessary and the guy was worth it.

"I would still stick to some sort of girl code, I’d be like, 'Look gal, I know you like him too but we are both here for the same thing.'"

However, she admits her dating history has been a complete "failure" so far.

"I never normally make it past the first date, so I guess lots of dates because, I go, I try and I don’t like them," she said.

"I would prefer to meet people out and about, like on a night out. My dream has always been to be having a coffee and a guy bumps into me, like a fairy tale, that would be my ideal meeting."

She added: "Recently, it’s all been through dating apps because I am hardly ever out because of work."

Paige had sworn herself off men after her last relationship broke up, but she missed the connection and now wants to find someone.

"I came out of a relationship and I was just so done with guys so was like, 'Right, that's it. I’m going to focus on me,'" she said.

"Then I was like, 'Ok, I’m bored now, I’m lonely and I miss love and the connection and everything else.' I’ve been on a few dates but I just haven’t clicked with anyone. Whoever I’m in a relationship with, I look after them really well, probably too much!"

*Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
