Louisville point guard Hailey Van Lith is reportedly visiting 2023 national championship winner LSU on Tuesday as she continues to navigate the transfer portal, according to On3’s Shea Dixon.
Van Lith has become a household name in the women’s college basketball world. She even went viral during the 2023 NCAA tournament after she had a contentious exchange with Texas guard Sonya Morris following their Sweet 16 matchup.
During her junior season, she averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Van Lith has two years of eligibility remaining after wrapping up the 2022–23 campaign. Not only is she a star on the court, but she also ranks in the top 10 of On3’s NIL valuation among women’s athletes with two of her biggest partnerships coming with Adidas and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
After the Tigers won the national title on April 2, LSU forward Angel Reese and guard Flau’jae Johnson rank in the top four of the same list mentioned above.
It’s worth noting that Van Lith has spoken with LSU coach Kim Mulkey before, back when Mulkey was at Baylor and Van Lith was a high school recruit in 2020. At the time, the guard was deciding between Baylor and Louisville and ultimately chose the Cardinals.
According to Dixon, the now former Louisville star included a “no contact” clause when she entered the transfer portal, meaning that she reportedly initiated conversation with the LSU program, rather than Mulkey and the Tigers reaching out to her.
