Louis Tomlinson has donated his beloved football shirt to Grenfell Athletic’s Fabric of the Community project.
The community football club has created a special kit incorporating pieces of clothing from survivors of the horrific Grenfell Tower fire, along with items donated by celebrities.
The fire tragically killed 72 people as it swept through the high-rise building in Kensington and Chelsea, west London, in June 2017.
One Direction star Tomlinson, 32, has donated his Doncaster Rovers FC shirt to the project.
"Wherever I am in the world and I have my Doncaster Rovers FC shirt with me, it reminds me of home,” he said.
"When I am touring and I see a member of the audience wearing one, I get a real feeling of home, no matter where I am.”
Tomlinson has long been a fan of Doncaster Rovers, having previously played games for the South Yorkshire football club.
Former Arsenal player Héctor Bellerín also donated a shirt he wore during a match for the Premier League team. He has previously given more than £19,000 to support Grenfell survivors.
The kit’s design features a perimeter area surrounding the club emblem and will be worn by the men and women's team during the 2024/2025 season.
"Our club was born out of a desire to heal and bring our community ever closer through the power of football,” said Rupert Taylor, the founder of Grenfell Athletic.
"We're so thankful for every person who donated their fabrics and bravely shared their stories, and we hope the project offers an additional avenue for healing and a platform for showing how inspirational our community truly is.
“The hearts and souls of the people of Grenfell are woven into Grenfell Athletic's DNA, and now they'll be woven into the club's shirts, too."
Tomlinson, along with his late One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, previously sang lyrics in Bridge Over Troubled Water – a song dedicated to help support the families of Grenfell victims and survivors.
Tomlinson’s donation to Grenfell Athletic comes hours after he attended the funeral of Payne, who died in October aged 31.
Payne passed away after falling from his hotel balcony in Argentina and was given a moving send-off in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday.
