Lough Erne resort offer help to mental health charity struggling to meet local demand

The Lough Erne Resort has announced a new charity partnership with Action Mental Health in a bid to help the charity, which has struggled to meet demand in recent months.

The Co Fermanagh resort will provide free event space and access to mindfulness walks on its grounds over the next 12 months to help the struggling charity.

The new partnership coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week between May 9 and May 15.

Resort general manager Joanne Walsh said it was a way of supporting the local community as mental health issues are on the rise.

The new partnership coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week (9-15 May) and will see a number of initiatives with a focus on mindfulness taking place throughout the next 12 months at the luxury Fermanagh resort.

As part of the new association the resort will support the charity by facilitating fund raising activities through the provision of free event space, raffle prizes and access to mindfulness walks.

“For Lough Erne Resort this is a way of supporting the local Fermanagh community which has been so supportive of us for 15 years now.

“The pandemic has had a profound impact on the mental health of many – from young people to the elderly.

“This can be even more prevalent in a rural community like Fermanagh which can be more isolated than larger conurbations and have less access to support.

“We currently have a number of staff on placement from AMH who are part of our core team, so this partnership is a natural fit.”

“Action Mental Health has been well established in the Fermanagh region for many years now and runs a number of excellent programmes to support people of all ages.

“We are very much looking forward to learning more about their invaluable work and supporting them as best we can.”

Jonathan Smyth, Head of Communications & Fundraising with Action Mental Health said the charity was ‘thrilled’ to be chosen as the resort’s partner for the coming months.

“Action Mental Health has been providing vital mental health services for the local community across Co Fermanagh for over 30 years.

“As a local charity, we rely heavily on fundraising to support these services, so we are absolutely thrilled to be selected as the new charity partner for such a prestigious local brand.”
