Lotto winner claims his girlfriend 'dumped him and took all the money'

A lottery winner has issued a desperate warning after he said his girlfriend up and left him and took all the money from their jackpot winnings.

Kirk Stevens’ then live-in girlfriend Laura Hoyle got lucky in March last year when she landed the National Lottery’s Set for Life jackpot meaning she pocketed £10,000 a month for the next 30 years.

The engineer met Laura back in 2018 and soon she moved into his £240,000 three-bed house in Hucknall Nottingham.

Laura Hoyle won the Set for Life lotto jackpot in March last year and celebrated with then partner Kirk Stevens (SWNS)

He says Laura never paid Kirk a penny of rent and instead the couple decided she would put £25 into the lotto every week.

Kirk added they agreed that if they won they would live it up together.

When this came true the couple hit the headlines as they became professional ghost hunters.

But just a year and a half later Kirk has been left stunned after he claims Laura, 40, has dumped him.

The 39-year-old said she has moved into a swanky new pad and cut him off from the jackpot which he says he is entitled to a share of.

Kirk believes they were joint winners - despite the fact the ticket was bought in Laura's name and on her account only.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “Laura had told me we’d live the life of Riley if we won.

"Now she’s gone. She pulled the plug and took everything. She even wants our two dogs.”

The couple broke up in June this year, after attending a friend’s wedding in Bristol. Laura decided to end things between them.

Kirk said he wanted to try and fix it all but Laura didn’t.

He pointed out how the money and financial independence it brought Laura, gave her the confidence to throw it all away.

He went as far as branding her “snobbish and superior.”

Kirk also claimed the half-a-million pound home they had put a deposit on became her place instead of theirs and she moved in alone, without Kirk.

The embittered ex-lover complained Laura took some of “our stuff” and claimed she was after the dogs as well.

Kirk said: “At first, I didn’t know if it was a permanent split, so I didn’t mention the money.

"But when it became clear we were not going to work things out, I asked her: ‘What about our Lottery win?’ She said, ‘It’s not ours, it’s mine’.

“She made it very clear she wasn’t going to be splitting the money with me.

"Up until we split, Laura had been paying me £1k a month, but that stopped when she moved out.

"She claimed it was ‘rent’ and that she wouldn’t pay it now she’d left.”

Kirk has tried to insist he is owed some of the winnings but because they are not wed and the ticket was bought in Laura’s name, he has no real claim to any of it.

As the winning account was Laura’s it appears Kirk will be left wondering what could have been.
