This week we’re continuing our Club of the Month feature, which aims to highlight the great work of the many wonderful clubs, groups and organisations we have in West Lothian.
Anyone can take part, whether you run a lunch club for old folk or a football class for toddlers - we want to hear from you!
This month we’ve been speaking to Lothian Karate Centre, which started in 2017.
Head coach, Matt Mackay 4th Dan, has ran karate clubs within West Lothian for 40 years. Matt trained under Master Tatsuo Suzuki and Sensei Shiatsu for five years after moving onto train his own champions who made European, Scottish and British levels.
Matt said: “Our club is a ‘fit kids and adults’ approach to encourage children and adults of all levels and ages to be able to participate in Kumite (sparring) and Kata (technique of patterns) regardless of competing in competitions.
“At Lothian Karate Centre everyone is winner!”
Lothian Karate Centre training nights are based at Stoneyburn Community Centre every Monday children’s classes from 6pm-7pm with adults classes 7pm – 8pm.
This is an affordable activity for anyone with no subscription or membership fees involved (only pay per session).
