Lost motorway restaurant Liverpudlians may have visited on their travels in the 1980s

A popular family-friendly restaurant chain had branches across the UK in the 1980s, with many Liverpudlians likely visiting them as they travelled along Britain's motorways.

Happy Eater arrived on the scene in 1973 and was known for its bright yellow branding, creepy-looking red mascot logo and its animal-shaped play areas. The chain had restaurants near motorways and main road across the UK, including in Manchester, Lancashire and North Wales.

Many locals and tourists visited the various Happy Eater restaurants throughout its time. Liverpool families may recall stopping off at them on their travels, including on the A34, M65 and A55.
