Lost Manchester city centre restaurant known for its 'massive plates' and 'curry pancakes'

For some people, pancakes are only devoured on Pancake Day, but one Manchester restaurant served them all day, every day, offering pretty much any toppings you desired.

Dutch Pancake House opened in the 1970s in the basement of a building on the corner of St Peter's Square and Oxford Street in Manchester city centre. The restaurant was loved for its huge variety of sweet and savoury pancakes, with there being around 100 flavour combinations on the menu.

While many would be perfectly happy with traditional pancake flavours, such as maple syrup or lemon and sugar, you might have feared getting thrown out of Dutch Pancake House if you even attempted to order such a simple dish!
