Lorraine's Carol Vorderman taken aback by Christine McGuinness's girls' trip first

Carol Vorderman was taken aback by Christine McGuinness' girls trip revelation on today's Lorraine.

The former Countdown host fronted Tuesday's edition of the ITV chat show while Lorraine Kelly recovers from coronavirus. She interviewed the former Miss Liverpool, who shared details of her recent holiday.

Christine jetted off last month to soak up the summer heat in a disclosed location with a group of girl pals, including Chelcee Grimes. It was Christine's first holiday for three years and she said she had the "best time".

However, the host was visibly stunned when Christine said she saw a waterfall for the first time on the trip. She added: "I'm not well travelled. It's been three years since I went abroad. I was extremely reclusive in my 20s."

Christine went on the holiday without her husband Paddy McGuinness. The two have battled rumours their relationship is on the rocks in previous weeks - and Christine admitted no marriage is "plain sailing".

She said: "Marriages go through ups and downs anyway. Especially long ones like ours. It's not always going to be plain sailing but we're trying to deal with things as privately as possible.

"We both just want to be there to support the children and give them an amazing summer." Christine also revealed she is excited as the whole family is preparing to go away on a holiday next week - and insisted the children will always be her and Paddy's "focus".
