Lorraine Kelly has returned to her daytime show and she admitted Covid “completely floored” her.
The 62-year-old gave a health update at the beginning of Monday’s show and assured she’s now “fine” as she detailed her recovery.
Speaking to Dr Amir Khan live in Bradford to discuss how to stay cool in the current heatwave, he remarked how good it was to have Kelly back and asked how she was feeling.
“Do you know, I’m fine. It was a nasty one, the dreaded Covid got me and it’s a nasty one. Amir, the worst headaches I think I’ve ever had in my whole life,” she told the physician.
“[It] completely floored me, I couldn’t actually get up without feeling really weird but I’m absolutely fine now.
“Thank goodness, as I kept saying all the time, that I got the vaccine. God knows what I would have been like without that, but yeah, I’m good thank you and thank you for all your help. It’s just so good to have you, to know that I’ve got you and I can phone you up at any time, I’m so lucky,” she added.
Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman was drafted in to cover for the Scottish TV star all last week while she recovered from the virus.
She filled in on the show, continuing with the celebrity interviews as planned.
Kelly told her Twitter fans about the “dreaded” news of her positive Covid test.
At the time, she wrote: “The dreaded Covid has finally caught up with me. I am so thankful to the scientists who developed the vaccine!
“Being looked after by @rosiekellysmith @rubyisasausage and @steveandangussmith - thanks to @carolvorders for hosting @lorraine until I’m back!””
