Lorraine Kelly says BBC Strictly bosses 'silly' if Anton Du Beke doesn't replace Bruno Tonioli

Lorraine Kelly reckons Strictly bosses would be "silly" if they don't book Anton Du Beke to fill Bruno Tonioli's shoes on the show.

Lorraine was reacting to news that Bruno has quit the judging panel after 18 years to focus on his work in the US.

Italian dancer and choreographer, Bruno, now 66, has missed the last two years of the hit BBC series due to Covid travel restrictions.

Anton could be in the running to return as a judge on Strictly (BBC)

According to the Daily Mail, he has now said he is quitting for good and plans to stay as a judge on US show Dancing With The Stars.

A source said: "He's going to be a judge only on [the U.S. version] Dancing With The Stars from now on."

Anton, who first appeared on Strictly as a dancer, stood in for Bruno as a judge last season but no one has yet announced a replacement.

Lorraine discussed Bruno's departure on her ITV show this morning and said there should be no question about Anton replacing Bruno.

She explained: "C'mon its got to be Anton Du Beke. It would be silly if it wasn't. "

Lorraine reckoned it would make sense for the show and is a fan of Anton, despite him once saying she danced like a tree.

She said in the past: "During a break he said 'I can teach anybody to dance' and then he got me up and said it was like dancing with a wardrobe - and then he said it was like dancing with a tree."
