Lorraine Kelly reveals how Scots singer made her break down in tears

LORRAINE Kelly has told of how a Scots singer’s latest song made her break down in tears.

During an appearance on Kelly’s ITV show Tom Walker spoke to the presenter about his new single Freaking Out.

After playing a clip from Walker’s music video, Kelly said: “You know what I think of that song, you know what it did to me.

“I heard you performing it live at the STV Appeal, which is out on Friday, and I just couldn’t stop crying.

“It was a really dark, cold night and there you were singing so beautifully.”

The singer-songwriter, who shot to fame following the release of his 2019 single Leave A Light On, shared the inspiration behind the song and what he thought of Kelly’s reaction.

“I know I felt bad afterwards, [I thought] ‘Oh no I’ve made Lorraine cry!’.

“I wrote it coming out of the pandemic and getting back to living a real life. I remember the first I had back and I almost had a panic attack cos I was so nervous about going back up after a year off from doing what I love the most.

“My version of therapy is songwriting, that’s why I write songs cause I can get all my thoughts and feelings onto paper.”

Walker’s tear-jerking performance will be available to view this Friday as part of the STV Children’s Appeal, having been recorded a few weeks ago at the Glasgow headquarters of refugee charity Refuweegee.

“I’m really pleased to be a part of the Appeal show this year and to be playing a small part in helping all the amazing children’s charities that STV supports,” he added.

“To perform at Refuweegee and be able to see the work they do first-hand brings home the importance of the donations everyone makes to the Appeal.

“And of course, it’s always lovely to see my pal Lorraine for a wee chat. I hope everyone enjoys the show – I’m really proud to be involved.”
