Lorraine Kelly paid tribute to the 'best presenter' Ken Bruce after it was announced he would be leaving BBC Radio 2 after 31 years.
It was announced earlier today the legendary broadcaster was parting ways with the station, and would be moving to Bauer to join Greatest Hits Radio. After seeing the news, the Scots presenter took to Twitter to praise Ken and his stellar career.
Lorraine, 63, tweeted: "This is too much. I draw the line - Ken Bruce is the BEST presenter on radio anywhere in the world. He’s kind, funny, wise and warm and I am really sad about this. End of an era. You will be sorely missed young man."
STV news presenter Gordon Chree quipped in response: "more of a move elsewhere than the end...," As Lorraine soon agreed: "True. But still sad to see him leave radio 2."
An official announcement on the BBC Radio 2 Twitter page reads: "We have some news… After 31 years of presenting the 9:30am-midday weekday show Ken Bruce has decided to leave. We’re going to miss you lots Ken and want to congratulate you on a fantastic career at the BBC."
Ken also made a statement about the news, saying it was "time for a change". He said: "After 45 years of broadcasting on BBC Radio it's time for a change. I would stress that this is entirely my decision. I will always be very proud of my association with the BBC and Radio 2."
Ken will replace Mark Goodier from 10am until 1pm on weekdays and will be starting in April.
Speaking about his new role, Ken said: "What better way to celebrate my forty-five years in radio than with a new adventure and a brand-new show on Greatest Hits Radio.
"I say brand-new but there will still be PopMaster , me and my musings and all the great records you know and love from the 70s, 80s and 90s. I’m looking forward to getting started and to you joining me for my very first show. See you in April!"
The BBC Radio 2 line-up has changed quite a bit recently and has seen a series of stars leaving the radio channel including Paul O'Grady, Steve Wright, Craig Charles and Vanessa Feltz. Last tear, Steve Wright and Craig Charles' shows were axed while Vanessa Feltz left and other presenters lost their slots.
