Lorraine Kelly defends guest on ITV show for wearing sunglasses during interview

Lorraine Kelly clarified a guest's appearance after viewers asked why she was wearing sunglasses during an interview.

To celebrate the release of Downton Abbey's new film, presenter Ria Hebden travelled to Highclere Castle to take a tour around the famous TV and movie set. The cinematic return of the period drama will see the characters go on a journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess' newly inherited villa while a film crew works at Downton.

On Lorraine, Ria met Lady Fiona Carnarvon and was shown around the stately rooms, taking a look at where Downton Abbey was filmed.

After the segment, Ria returned for a live interview with Lady Carnarvon. The pair were joined by Lorraine as they discussed the second film instalment.

However, some viewers noticed that in the live interview Lady Carnarvon was wearing oversized sunglasses. One tweeted: "Why has she got sunglasses on inside?"

Juliet said: "Why is she wearing dark glasses?" And a third tweeted: "Why has Lady Carnarvon got sunglasses on?"

At the end of the interview, Lorraine clarified why Lady Carnarvon was wearing the accessory while talking to Ria. She said: "Lady Carnarvon is wearing sunglasses. She's got a wee eye infection, she wasn't being starry."

Following Lorraine's statement, Ryan tweeted: "Lorraine Kelly just told me."

Another replied: "And me", followed by cry-laughter emojis.
