Loreburn Primary School celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a parade in town.
Head teacher Lesley Farrell said: “We decided that we wanted to mark this occasion as it is an important part of history.
“We took the children out for a day.
“We walked through Dumfries town centre with the flags and horns, made our way to Dock Park, Castledykes Park and returned to the school.
“Later that day we had a picnic outside with lots of activities and, at the end, each child was given a pin badge to mark the Jubilee.”
Ms Farrell is thankful for the response from the local community as “it was a day to remember”.
She added: “While walking through town we had fantastic feedback from the community.
“The majority of children live in the town centre and it is great to see that passers-by were waving and supporting our little parade.”
The primary school was preparing children for the historical event by having discussions in class.
Ms Farrell said: “It is important for us to know that children understand why we are doing this.
“All the children enjoyed the event and have learned a lot about the monarchs.”
