Loose Women viewers 'heartbroken' as Charlene White fights back tears during 'emotional' tribute to Jamal Edwards

Viewers tuning into today's instalment of Loose Women were left heartbroken as panellists paid tribute to Jamal Edwards.

The episode was dedicated to presenter Brenda Edwards' son Jamal, who sadly passed away on Sunday, February 20, following an illness - which you can watch in the video above .

Jamal Edwards was 31 when he lost his life, leaving behind a huge music legacy. Some of his key achievements being launching an online music platform SB.TV and playing a big part in kick-starting the careers of the likes of Ed Sheeran and Jessie J.

In 2014 he was awarded an MBE for his work in music and business.

During the start of Monday's Loose Women, Charlene White struggled to fight back tears as she opened the show with a moving tribute to Jamal.

"Many of you that regularly watch this show will know that the love Brenda had for both Jamal and daughter Tanisha was massive." She said.

"Her heart was full of so much love for those children, so you know just how shocked Brenda is and just how hard it's hit all of us who knew him and of course all of us who love Brenda."

Fellow co-host Judy Love said: "I think people see us on Loose Women. But it's so much bigger than that, the friendships that we build outside and the support that we give each other in different areas of our lives

"This is an area, if I'm honest, I don't wanna be here doing this, I don't want to have to do this but we have to you know, and it's heart-breaking.

"All we can do is try the best to support Brenda and honour her amazing son through this time."

The pair told viewers they had both been to see Brenda on Sunday.

"We wanted to give them all the love and hugs we could, it's not going to help but we want them to know they are loved." Charlene said.

She then told viewers Brenda had issued a statement after Jamal's death, which she began to read out, after someone else had already broken the news on social media.

"He is a powerhouse, he changed the music scene. One man. In a way that we've not seen for generations." Charlene said, visibly distraught.

"But there is work life and there is family life and there is home life and it should've been Brenda that was able to choose when to tell the world about her loss and that was taken away from her." She added, as Judy couldn't help by cry.

A plethora of viewers flooded Twitter with messages of love and support, many of which admitting to tearing up.
