Loose Women's Sophie Morgan slams British Airways for 'breaking' her wheelchair

Sophie Morgan said she "landed at Heathrow with a bang" after finding her chair had been "damaged".

The Loose Women star slammed British Airways on her Instagram account, sharing a video of the damaged chair and telling her 57,700 followers about her ordeal. While furious over the incident, the airline added insult to injury as Sophie was left with little choice but to sit in an aisle chair that was "not safe."

As she watched the airport workers trying to take her £8,000 wheelchair apart, Sophie said that she was so shocked "she couldn't speak." The 37-year-old said: "These untrained people were pulling my £5,000 chair and £3,000 attachment to pieces in front of me." She added: "I can't speak, I'm really shaken."

Captioning the clip, the TV presenter said: "Landed at Heathrow with a bang. Someone - no one took responsibility - decided to attach my wheelchair and my batec (battery-powered attachment) whilst in transit (they were checked in separately, in two parts, unattached) and they have done so a) without permission and b) COMPLETELY WRONG!!!

"It took over half an hour to ‘break’ them apart, all that time I had to sit on an aisle chair that was NOT safe and I didn’t know if I would be able to get back into my chair. Eventually, they broke them apart and I got back into my chair and reattached the batec but it’s not safe to use."

Sophie added: "I then discovered more damage. And what was I told to do by BRITISH AIRWAYS!? Send an email via the website.

"This has GOT TO STOP. Thousands of chairs are damaged by airlines every year. It’s #JustPlaneWrong."

The comments were inundated with messages of support. Ruth Madeley said: "Babe. It enrages me so much. I'm so sorry."

Selma Blair said: "I am so sorry. I hate hate this happens. Not as much as you do." Hannah Cockroft said: "I hope you get it fixed Sophie, and I hope you take it further. We shouldn’t have to be afraid every time we want to travel! Any support I can give- just shout!"
