Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha wades into Phillip Schofield row as she addresses fans' questions with 'rule'

Loose Women star Nadia Sawlha has waded into the commentary on Phillip Schofield's exit form This Morning after only a few of his fellow ITV stars spoke out to support him.

On Saturday (May 20), Phillip sensationally quit This Morning after 20 years. The presenter said in a statement that the programme had 'become the story' and that he wanted to "do what I can to protect the show that I love" after rumours were rife that he and Holly Willoughby were 'barely speaking' behind the scenes amid a 'rift' between the pair.

He went on to say: "So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."

Clodagh Mckenna, Rochelle Humes, and Matthew Wright have all shown their support for Phillip, as has former ITV co-star Piers Morgan who claimed the departing presenter 'deserved a better send-off'.

But the topic of Phillip's dramatic exit from the daytime show has remained largely unaddressed on other ITV shows such as Good Morning Britain and Loose Women.

Addressing being quizzed on why they 'haven't said anything', Loose Women panellist Nadia said alongside her director husband Mark on the couple’s Coffee Moaning podcast: “This story with Phillip and Holly is just huge, it’s just everywhere. There’s so much speculation and so much chat.

“I think everybody at ITV, like my colleagues, and whether I’m doing a live Instagram or on [YouTube], there is the constant question of why haven’t we said anything? Why are we not saying anything? It is difficult, because I do have a rule.

However, appearing to take a swipe at her former ITV co-star, she went on: "There are people who don’t stick to that rule and I believe that a certain person who is in the news at the moment didn’t stick to that so much with me a long while ago. I’m just going to leave that there…"

But referring back to her rule, former EastEnders star Nadia said: "I don’t know Phillip and Holly. They pass around the studios but I’ve never had a cup of coffee with them, I’ve never sat and had a chat with them.

"But I have a rule - and I think it’s a good one - that I don’t bad-mouth people that are colleagues. I think that’s what makes you a decent person or not."
